NEWSLETTERS Newsletters will be sent home twice a month, updating you on curriculum, upcoming events, and other important news.

ASSIGNMENT SHEET

A weekly assignment sheet is handed out every Monday.  This organizational tool helps students develop accountability and responsibility for their homework and projects.  Please be sure to look at their assignment sheet each day to check for any notes from myself, as well as to find out nightly homework and upcoming events.
VOLUNTEERS I look forward to having you all in our room over the course of this school year.  I believe that your participation in the classroom serves as a strong example to your child and supports their efforts made here at school. You will be contacted prior to each three month span to sign up for days and times that work best for you during those particular months.
SNACK

Rather than stopping for 15 minutes each day for a specific snack time I am going to allow children to get a snack anytime during the school day as long as it doesn't distract from student learning.  This is a privilege and if it is abused the privilege will be taken away.  Please send your child with a healthy snack that doesn't make a mess while eating it.

BOOK ORDER

Book orders from Scholastic come home once a month.  Checks are the only form of payment accepted.

BIRTHDAYS

As you know, birthdays at Newcastle are celebrated in a different way.  Goodies will not be brought into the classroom by parents.  We will provide a birthday seat cover and a birthday pencil for the birthday child.  Summer birthdays will be celebrated during the school months as well.  Birthday party invitations may not be handed out during school hours.

No Toys

There is an enormous amount of curriculum to cover and work to be done in third grade.  It is important to eliminate distractions as best we can.  Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school.  If your child is going on a play date after school, and wants to bring a toy from home, please remind your child to keep the toy in their backpack the entire school day.
We're a Family Just like in a family all will be treated fairly in this classroom.  This does not mean that what I do for each child will always look the same.  Please remember to respect, treasure, and love not only your own child, but all the precious children in this classroom community.
