 CONFERENCES:
I am looking forward to seeing you at your child’s conference.  Conferences will take place on Tuesday, November 3rd and Wednesday, November 4th.  Remember… NO SCHOOL these days! This will be a great opportunity for you to see what amazing things your child is doing in 3rd grade!  Please bring any celebrations, thoughts, or questions you would like to discuss. A conference reminder was sent home in the event you forgot to write down your scheduled time at Curriculum Night.

Writing: The students are well on their way to write a persuasive letter to me (AKA Turkey President). My students are trying to persuade the Turkey President to grant their turkey clemency and save them from becoming Thanksgiving dinner.  At the moment my students are brainstorming and writing their rough draft. It delights me to see their enthusiasm and listen to their wonderfully creative ideas.  Our official “Pardoning” Election will take place the Wednesday before we leave for Thanksgiving break, November 25th.  I am hoping that all turkeys will be pardoned after my third graders vote. J please remember that completed turkey mosaics are due Monday, November 2nd. The goal is to design a collage-type occupationally dressed turkey.  Help and/or suggestions from family members is encouraged, as this is a really fun and creative project.  Directions and turkey shape will go home on Wednesday, October 28th

SCIENCE: On Friday, November 13th students will complete their salmon studies with a FINAL EXAM.  They will be bringing a study guide home on Friday the 6th to help them prepare for the exam and should be ready for the test the following Friday afternoon.  Salmon are pretty fascinating and can give us all a lesson in tenacity.  I have planned a couple of fun games to review all of the information.  With the study guide and the review games your student will be ready to ace the test.

I look forward to visiting with all of you during conferences next week and telling you things about your child that will make you very proud.  My third grade students are fabulous and inspire me each and every day.
