MATH
OLYMPIAD PROGRAM OVERVIEW 2009-2010
Math Olympiad
Curriculum covers Number Sense, Algebra, Geometry, Problem Solving,
Measurement, and Probability/Statistics. Students will be learning in a
team format at school meetings and at the culminating competition. This
challenging 5th grade curriculum takes time outside of school to learn.
Students will be expected to complete work at home every week. Parents
usually need to be available for help. The cost for this program is
graciously covered by PTSA and Newcastle Elementary.
All meetings will take place Fridays from
8:10-9:10 in Room 246. We are expecting students to arrive around 8:00
to prepare, as teaching begins promptly at 8:15. Below are the meeting
dates. If changes occur in this schedule, we will notify you. If school
is delayed or closed, Math Olympiad will be cancelled that day.
