Reading Club Information Reading Club (also known as Title 1/LAP) is an Issaquah School District Program that operates in all of Issaquah's Elementary Schools Reading Club is designed to provide supplementary help to children in the areas of reading and writing. |

Qualifying for Reading Club In Kindergarten: All Kindergarten students are given a DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment) in the fall. Scores are totaled and ranked from low to high. Reading Club serves the lowest ranking students until group space is filled. In grades 1st and 2nd: Student's 2009 Stanford Reading scores and teacher recommendation scores are totaled and ranked. Reading Club serves the lowest ranking students until group space is filled. In grades 3rd, 4th and 5th: Student's 2009 Stanford Reading scores, teacher recommendation scores and WASL scores are totaled and ranked. Reading Club serves the lowest ranking students until group space is filled. |

Program Set-up Reading Club is designed to provide each student with additional help in the areas of reading and writing. No teacher instruction in their general classroom will be missed. Kindergarten groups: M, T, TH, F for 25 minutes. 1st-5th grade groups: M, T, W, TH for 30 minutes. This year we offer a before school option for 4th and 5th graders. 8:15am-school begins. |

Curriculum All Reading Club programs at the elementary level use the Benchmark Enrichment Company curriculum. This curriculum is for K-5th grades. This curriculum is designed to accelerate reading progress. Each student's reading is monitored daily and reported to classroom teachers weekly. 2 progress reports are sent out during the year.
