TITLE: Technology Specialist
LOCATION: Newcastle Elementary School
REPORTS TO:
Director of Educational Technology and/or Building Principal
FUNCTION:
The technology specialist will oversee basic hardware trouble-shooting
and software installation and troubleshooting for a school. The position
will be variable hours daily with some meeting time outside of school
hours, depending upon building assignment(s).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as the first level technician in the area of initial
installations, cloning, configuring basic networking, and trouble
shooting workstations including printers.
2. Basic network administration of school server as trained.
3. Support implementation of district adopted software and software
obtained from grants.
4. Coordinate service with the district technology department.
5. Maintain school’s technology inventory database.
6. Attend district technology specialist training and other technology
meetings.
7. Participate on school technology team and assist with building
hardware and software purchases.
8. Assist librarian as the school focus for cataloging and managing the
building software.
9. Keep staff informed about the evolving technology program, as well as
implement technology procedures such as licensing, inventory, security,
etc., for staff and student technology resources.
10. Assume additional responsibilities in the area of technology as may
be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Strong knowledge of computer technology and technology infrastructure
and willingness to attend training.
3. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to staff,
students and parents.
4. Ability to work cooperatively with diverse persons toward common
goals.
5. Experience providing training to adults and students desired.
6. Willingness to remain current with developments in the field of
technology systems. |
