It's the year for "Remarkable Recorders!"

During the entire school year, we will work on gaining proficiency with our Grade Level Expectations in Elementary Music.  Ours is a spiraling curriculum from 1st through 5th grade, so each year we touch on previous concepts and move a few steps further toward mastery of our elementary music curriculum. Students  receive ongoing instruction in Music Theory and Composition, History, Theatre and Dance, Instrumental and Vocal Music.

While studying the art of playing an instrument, students will also be working on creating layered rhythm compositions with a Junk Band.  We will be working to craft a classroom movement and rhythm piece using “found instruments” --- much like the short pieces seen in  "Stomp!" performances.  T

Final Concert

"Remarkable Recorders!" & "A Pacific Rim Experience!" will take place on April 30th, at 7:00 pm, right here at Newcastle Elementary.  Come celebrate the 4th grade musicians and their awesome accomplishments!
In June, all 4th grade students will have the opportunity to play with the Liberty High School Band!  We will perform as "The Liberty Recorder All-Stars" as part of the Liberty Pops Concert at 7:00 pm in the Liberty High Gym.  The Newcastle 4th graders always do an outstanding job, and playing with the high school band is a fantastic experience!  Please be on the lookout for the confirmed date of this fun, family concert.
